Google
recently started to release Google Wave. During their demo video a few
months ago, they tried to show the iPhone web app but it wouldn’t work.
Engadget recently made a video showing a little bit of the app. Here’s
the video.

Version 1.1 of SlingPlayer Mobile was just approved by Apple and is now available in the App Store. the update does contain some new features (see list below) but still does not allow the app to work on 3G. The developers have submitted a version of the app that does allow it to work on 3G however, they have not heard back from Apple on that version of the app yet. - Full 16×9 widescreen support (Slingbox SOLO, PRO and PRO-HD only)
- DISH Remote Access integration (DISH Network users only)
- Faster start and channel change
- Improved remote control interface

TomTom’s co-founder and CTO Peter-Frans Pauwels first demonstrated his company’s turn-by-turn solution for the iPhone at WWDC in June of ‘09. You can watch a teaser video above. Since then, many customers have anticipated this app’s release and pricing.
Handtec may have let the cat out of the bag. Daniweb linked to a page listing “TomTom for iPhone including mount” for £113.85 ($193.89US as of this writing) via preorder. That’s a bit steeper that we were expecting here at TUAW, but not astronomical. TomTom’s stand-alone units range in price from $119 to nearly $400. I hope to use my 3GS as a turn-by-turn device and avoid adding one more “thing” from the car.

This is a video demo of ultrasnow, a software unlock for the iPhone 3G running firmware 3.0. Unlocking your iPhone lets you use the iPhone with other carriers like T-Mobile in the US. (This does not work for Verizon) The plan for release is this Friday through Cydia.

It’s about time, isn’t it? It’s been a few months since we showed you SlingMedia demoing Slingplayer Mobile, then SlingMedia submits the app for approval. Two months later, here we are, Slingplayer for iPhone is available on the AppStore.
SlingPlayer Mobile allows you to watch and control your home TV and DVR from your iPhone and iPod touch. This is accomplished by using one of SlingMedia’s media devices. Ah, but there’s a gotcha as usual, due to concerns about network congestion, the application will only stream video over Wi-Fi connections and does not support 3G or EDGE.
SlingPlayer Mobile costs a whopping $29.99 and it’s available at the AppStore (iTunes Link)
